Margarita's beaches

Margarita has a big choice of beaches. There is one for everyone: With or without waves, with or without crowds, with or without wind, with or without hotels, with or without facilities (restaurants, shades, chairs... ).

In this page we will take you to most of Margarita's beaches, starting from Porlamar and going around the whole island.

La Caracola - Playa Moreno

La Caracola - Playa Moreno

Located nearby Porlamar. You can find several beach clubs and restaurants, where you will be able to eat and enjoy your day with the whole family. A good option if you are staying in Porlamar and don't want to go far away.

Pampatar

This bay is dominated by the Castle of Pampatar. Shared between fishermen and swimmers. Calm waters with no waves. Ideal for a quick bath or with small children.

Playa Guacuco

Playa Guacuco

One of the fine beaches in Margarita: close to Porlamar, coconut trees, not as crowded as other beaches north, with waves. An excellent choice, you should try it.

El Tirano

A relatively small beach, but very pleasant and not so crowded. The best part is used by the guests of the Barceló Pueblo Caribe hotel.

Playa Parguito

Playa Parguito

Nowadays one of the fashion beaches. Smaller than Playa El Agua, nice waves, it is the surfer's choice. Very good restaurants and kiosks with unsalted water showers.

Playa El Agua

Playa El Agua

This is Margarita's classic beach. Preferred by many. Very long. A round trip walk from one end to another can take more than one hour. Water sports. Definitely a "must'. However, beware it is a dangerous beach.

Playa Manzanillo

Playa Manzanillo

A fishermen bay that is starting to be used more and more by beach lovers. Not so crowded and very pleasant. Similar to Puerto Cruz.

Playa Puerto Cruz (Isla bonita - Dunes)

Close to the village of Pedro Gonzalez, is located this fine beach. It serves one of Margarita's best hotel and resort. Not so crowded with facilities and water sports.

La Galera

La Galera beach

La Galera is a quiet beach located close to Juangriego. No waves and a good restaurant. Wave runners rental

One of the fashion beaches. Close to Juangriego. Waves and nice restaurants.

La Restinga

Located in a national park, it is the longest beach in Margarita (22 kilometers). It has waves and with many shells under the sand. You can reach it by land, through the Macanao peninsula or by boat, through the mangroves of La Restinga. Definitely an "absolute must".

Playa La Pared

Playa La Pared

Very nice beach, not known at all. Located north of the peninsula of Macanao. No facilities and almost nobody. A good choice if you want to be far from the crowds. There is a restaurant nearby.

Punta Arenas

For those who are looking for a good beach, nice sand, not so many waves, this is probably your best choice. The long trip from Porlamar (70 km) is definitely worth.

El Yaque

El Yaque

Just behind the airport is located one of the best windsurfing spots in the world. The beach is not so crowded. No waves. Very pleasant, specially if you don't mind the wind. Recommended for small children, because it is not deep at all. Nice coconut and palm trees. Very good restaurants.

Coche

Although it is not located in Margarita, for many it's Margarita's best beach. White sand, blue see, nice breeze, not so crowded. If you don't want to stay in Coche, you can take a highly recommended "day tour".

Mayorquina - Unlike most places in Morrocoy, Mayorquina is not an island. However the way to reach it is by sea, just as in all the islands.
