"Barlovento, Barlovento, land from the heat and the drums, land of the "fulías" and fine black people that take with them to party their dancing hips, them to the sound of the "Curbeta" and the taqui taqui of the mine” is one of the most representative songs of the Venezuelan folklore. Barlovento means “where the wind comes from”, in counter-position of “sotavento” (where the wind goes to).
Barlovento is a region in Miranda State, east from Caracas. Since the Guarenas – Caucagua highway was finished, the access to the region from Caracas has turned easier, making it a very interesting touristic destination on vacations.
In Barlovento there are several villages. The resort city of Higuerote, Carenero, Río Chico, Tacarigua de la Laguna…

There are also many beaches like Chirimena and Puerto Frances that are located after the Cabo Codera, point in where the coast mountain Caín ends. If you continue the road, you can arrive to Los Caracas and the Central Litoral.
