The biggest blessing that the City of Caracas has is without any doubt, the National Park El Avila that separates the city to the north with the sea. It’s a truly vegetal lung, as well as an excellent exercise and scattering. It’s also useful to orientate any person, indicating always were the north is. It’s also a great ornament of the city. The Avila can be viewed from almost the entire city. It’s due to its presence that Caracas has been named “Sultana del Avila” (Sultan of the Avila). In this section of Venezuelatuya we’ll show you the different excursions and walks you can make in this National Park. There are walks and excursions from one hour (like the popular walk to Sabas Nieves), from half a day, a full day or it’s also possible to sleep in the mountain, with the proper equipment. In the Avila it is necessary to follow the rules from the national park: You can’t drink any alcoholic drinks, nor use sound equipment with a high volume. You can’t cut the flowers neither bothers the animals.

For the short excursions a short and a t-shirt are appropriate. There are many places where you can drink clean water from the mountain itself. It’s fresh water and very nice. Nevertheless, to get to higher places you must take the drinks you are going to need, as well as the food. If the excursions are longer or to higher places, it is recommended to use long pants and appropriate boots.

From this site, we ask you please to take care of this mountain, not to damage it, returning the bottles or garbage that you have taken with you in the way up. If you could carry them when they were full, with even more reason can you carry them with you on your way down as they are empty? We invite you to visit the park and we hope that your virtual visit will just be the beginning of a real visit.
